3. When do we need to setup static IP configuration?

-       When external devices or websites need to remember your IP address.

-       When other computer wants to access your computer to download files, then the computer forced to use static IP address.

-       When there is only one printer in the office, static IP is form and used by all the computer to connect the printer.

-       Some network devices do not support Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

-       Avoid potential IP address conflicts where DHCP might supply an address which already assigned at another place.

4. Do you know the type of UTHM IP configuration? Is it static or dynamic?

The IP address of UTHM is 103.31.34.251. The type of UTHM IP configuration is static and also dynamic. It is because static IP configuration could make the computer connect to each other and in order to connect the server of UTHM a static IP configuration is a must to use so that all the computer can access the server. It also uses dynamic because of when they connect to the network, the address will change over the time.

5. What is static IP?

A static IP is an IP address that never change. It is required when there are many devices need to connect to one device. By using static IP, it can be easily connected through static IP address, so that both of the devices always connected. Besides, static IP also used in a company where it has server. Many computers need to access the company server to complete or to view their tasks. So, by providing static IP, all the computer can access the server.

6. What is dynamic IP? When do we need to use dynamic IP? When do we need to use dynamic IP?

Dynamic IP is address which assigned by network when they connect to a network and change over time. Most home networks are dynamic IP address and is because it is cost effective for Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) to place dynamic IP addresses to their customers. Dynamic IP is used when IPv4 doesn’t provide enough static IP addresses to go around. For example, in home or office may be assigned a dynamic IP address because no matter what devices we use the addresses are probably assigned by network router and change over time. So, mostly home network will use dynamic IP address as there is no required for accessing server etc.
